Copy edit: To edit (a manuscript, document, text, etc.) for publication, especially for punctuation, spelling, grammatical structure, style, etc. This is a representative list of a range of editing services you can access at LetterCraft. View samples. Proofing: Comparing old with updated versions of text for accuracy. Copy editing (also known as proofreading): Basic line-by-line grammar and punctuation editing. Editing: Comprises the full range of editorial activities, from basic copy editing all the way up to research, content development and rewriting. Developmental editing: Usually involves a massive reorganization of content, rewriting, or extensively redirecting the author. Technical editing: Advanced editing skills applied in a highly specialized technical or professional field (most often computer science, engineering, medicine, the sciences, legal and banking services and website development). In addition to performing standard editing, a technical editor also reviews the technical accuracy of the material, though responsibility for technical accuracy rests with the originating expert. Because technical editing requires both advanced editing skills and additional high-level specialization, it tends to be priced at the high end of the editing scale. |
