Business writing, technical writing: Common, recognized specialties within the writing field. Business writing includes--but is not limited to--annual reports, corporate newsletters, press releases and marketing collateral materials. Technical writing is reporting or explanatory writing for a highly skilled technical field such as scientific research or computer-related subjects.

Ghostwriting: Writing done for a client, with the client listed as the author rather than the writer.

Speechwriting: A specialty requiring familiarity with the speaker.

Newswriting: Writing done by reporters and by those preparing news stories for all types of broadcasting (podcasts, radio, TV, video on demand, etc.).
